I am a Chapel Hill resident and a UNC alum with a degree in Political Science and Dramatic Arts. Currently, I am the Managing Director of the NC Alliance for Health. I am running for Town Council because I want to be a coalition builder in our community. In the advocacy work I’ve done on the local and state levels, I’ve focused on bringing diverse stakeholders together to solve our common problems. I want to bring that experience to our local governing process.
After graduation, many of my peers left our community and our state. I realized there was no better place I would rather be than Chapel Hill and the Triangle of North Carolina. Prior to my work at the Alliance, I worked as a Development Assistant at Ipas in Southern Village.
I currently serve on the Board of Directors of the American Legacy Foundation. Legacy was founded from the Master Settlement Agreement in the 1990’s, and is the creator of the innovative truth® campaign, which contributed to the decline in smoking rates amongst our youth over the last decade. In our state, I’m proud to serve on the Board of Directors of the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Campaign of North Carolina, and have volunteered in our community with the UNC Hospital Blood Donation Center, Planned Parenthood of Central North Carolina, and as a tutor with Orange County Human Services.
Chapel Hill is at a crossroads, and as we draft a new comprehensive plan and prepare for our future, we must ensure that all citizens’ voices are heard. As a member of the Initiating Committee for the new plan, I’ve worked (and will continue to do so as our plan evolves) to ensure that all stakeholders are present and sitting at the table.
